Anita Elaine
Cunningham
April 23, 2025
Anita Elaine Cunningham, age 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Longs, South Carolina, on April 23, 2025. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Anita lived a life filled with love, strength, and compassion.
She is survived by her companion, Charles "Chick" Ambrass; her children, Brian and Alice; her son-in-law, Hyung Heon Kim; and her grandchildren, Spencer, Marie, and Ryan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Cunningham, and her brother, Charles France. Anita's spirit and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Anita dedicated her life to caring for others through her work as a nurse, a career that reflected her deep compassion and selflessness. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, writing, crafting, gardening, traveling, and puzzles and games, often cherishing game nights with friends. She loved writing stories for and with her grandchildren and spent countless happy hours crafting with them, creating treasured memories. Anita also generously volunteered her time at the local library, sharing her love of books and learning with others. Known for her ever-positive attitude, she was rarely seen without a smile or a laugh, bringing light and happiness wherever she went.
After her rescue dog went missing and was found with the help of Find Toby in PA, Anita gave back by volunteering with the organization to help reunite missing pets with their owners—a true reflection of her generous and loving spirit.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held in Pennsylvania this summer, with the date and location to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation, Find Toby in PA, or your local food bank would be appreciated.
