Arthur R
Corneliusen
Jan 10, 1943 — Jun 17, 2026
Arthur R. Corneliusen, Jr., 83, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Arthur is survived by his devoted wife, Heather; his son and daughter-in-law, Derek and Ashwanie Corneliusen of Jackson, New Jersey; his sister, Rise P. Corneliusen and her companion, Robert J. Shear, of Edison, New Jersey; and his niece, Andrea L. Bonanno of Towaco, New Jersey. He also leaves behind his beloved stepchildren: Megan Springsted and her husband, Phillip, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Glen Stark and his wife, Cynthia, of Hillsville, Virginia; and Jeffrey Stark and his companion, Yolanda Taylor, of Toms River, New Jersey. Arthur was a proud and loving grandfather to Erica, Kendra, Matthew, and Robert “Junior,” all of whom brought him great joy.
He was predeceased by his parents, Concetta Bossone Corneliusen and Arthur R. Corneliusen, Sr.
Born in Long Branch, New Jersey, Arthur graduated from Bloomfield High School and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he built a long and respected career in the printing industry. Later in life, he enjoyed working as a security officer at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, where he combined his love of nature with his commitment to serving others.
Arthur had a lifelong passion for learning, craftsmanship, and the outdoors. An accomplished woodworker and avid gardener, he generously shared his knowledge as a Master Gardener volunteer in Horry and Georgetown Counties. He was also a Civil War history enthusiast, enjoyed target shooting, and found great satisfaction in working with his hands and spending time in nature.
Perhaps most of all, Arthur will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady presence, and deep love for family and animals. Together with Heather, he devoted many years to caring for homeless cats and dogs, opening both his heart and home to animals in need.
A celebration of Arthur’s life will be held in his home state of New Jersey later this year.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to a local animal shelter in Arthur’s honor.
Arthur’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
