Obituary

Calabash, NC.  Austin Crawford [Ford] McDonald, Jr. passed away peaceful at home surrounded by his family on Monday, July 31,2023.

Ford was born on March 20, 1945, in Baltimore, Maryland to Austin C McDonald, Sr. and Peggy F. McDonald. He grew up in Wilmington, NC.  In the mid 60's he was a golf pro at a local range. On September 7, 1968, he married the love of his life, Maria "Mitzi" Schwartz. They owned and operated The Hawks Nest located on Oleander Drive. They moved to North Myrtle Beach area in the late 70's. He had several different businesses from a Sign and Sandblasting Company to restaurants including Mitzi's Deck in Crescent Beach and The Breakers in Ocean Isle Beach, NC. He also had Lost and Found Golf Balls in Little River, SC. He was working on building his new adventure on Pissed Off Promotions when he was diagnosed with Cancer and couldn't continue.

Survivors include his loving and caring wife who took care of him till the end Mitzi for almost 55 years; 2 daughters Katherine and her husband Wade Fulmer, Peggy and her husband Wade Buss; a son, Austin C, McDonald, III; 5 grandsons; Phillip (December), Preston (Ashley), Patrick (Kayla), Zackary Pierce Fulmer and Luke McDonald. 2 granddaughters: Tabitha (Billy) McGowan and Cassidi (Cameron) Smith. 6 great-grandsons; Kason Fulford, Spencer, Lennon, and Otto Finn Fulmer, Coast and Koa McGowan and 1 great grandbaby Smith due Dec/2023. 2 brothers, Ken and Gene McDonald.

Proceeded in death by both of his parents and a brother, Lynn McDonald.

His family honored his request for cremation and no service, The Family will do something in his memory at a later date. His wife wanted to share the 2 songs that will always be their songs, A Kind of Hush All Over the World and I Think We're Alone Now, Thank you to McLeod Seacoast, Autumn Care, Liberty Health Care, Liberty Hospice, Calabash Fire Department and Calabash EMS for everything the last 8 months.
