North Myrtle Beach, SC…………

Bob Hollen, age 67 of North Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Heath, OH passed away on July 31, 2023 after a brief illness.

Bob was born on September 1, 1955, in Akron, OH to the late Charles and Helen (Davis) Hollen.

He retired from the Granville Exempted Village School District where he was a high school art teacher for 35 years. He touched the lives of thousands of students and athletes as a coach of football, wrestling, cross country, track and golf. After retirement he was able to enjoy one of his greatest passions, playing the game of golf nearly every day. One of his greatest achievements and proudest moments was when he made a hole-in-one.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of nearly 44 years, Sonie (Harris) Hollen, daughter and son-in-law Carrie and Matt Van Der Veer, son and daughter-in-law Shaun and Tracy (Arce) Hollen, granddaughter Naomi Van Der Veer, sister Patty (Jim) Francis, brothers Steve and Greg Hollen, sisters-in-law Sue (Dick) Gosnell and Jenny Everhart, his best friend and golf partner Wayne Clark, dear friends  Paul and Lori Phillips and four nieces and one nephew. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Chuck.

Bobs cremation was handled by the Grand Strand Funeral Home. No matter where Bob was, he would always run into a former student or athlete, it is fitting that his last wishes were carried out by Christian Chambers, a former student/athlete and Funeral Director.

A Celebration of Life will be observed Friday, August 18, 2023 at Spring Hills Baptist Church, 1820 Newark Granville Rd., Granville, OH with Pastor Tom Pound officiating. ( Live Stream Link )The family will be available to greet guests from 3:30 p.m. until the time of service at 5:00 p.m. Casual attire is requested, wear your favorite golf shirt or school colors.
