Captain David Weaver, 56, left his earthly home peacefully on February 8th, 2017, with his loving wife Tammy McCants Weaver by his side.
Captain David was born December 31st, 1960, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Gary and Gloria Alvarez Weaver. He was predeceased by his parents, Gloria & Gary, his brother Mark Weaver, his father-in-law Lavern McCants and brother-in-law Homer Haithcock.
David was raised in Jacksonville Beach where he was well known for his fishing expertise. He worked at his father's Monty's Marina in Mayport as a young boy & pursued a commercial fishing that brought him to South Carolina. He was the youngest commercial captain on the East Coast when he started his career. He captained several boats, including the Bobbie Gale III, one of the first sword fishing boats on the East Coast, his last boat was the Miss Jackie.
David and Tammy were married on January 30th, 1988, and celebrated 29 years together.
He is survived by his wife, parents in law Butch and Ernestine Bauer, and a special great-nephew Elijah Cox, daughter Amber Pomranky (Anthony), grandchildren Ashlyn and Ashton Pomranky, brother Mike Weaver (Juli), nephews Michael and Taylor of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, sister-in-law Ginger Haithcock, special niece Brooke Cox, great nephew and niece Cameron Cox and Amya Lance, loving and supportive Uncle S.M. and Aunt Brenda Gordon, cousins Tommy, Kim, Katie and Luke Gordon, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins in Florida. Also a special lifetime friend Kelly (Karen) Ingram and his family.
A memorial service was held Sunday at 2:00 at Graves Southern Baptist Church, 44 Vine Street, Georgetown, S.C. Memorials may be made to the church in his honor.
