Charles Edwin
(Catfish) Cooper
December 6, 1952 – June 21, 2020
Charles Edwin Cooper, 67 of Conway passed away at his home on Sunday June 21, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Julius Whiteford and Vera Faye Davis Cooper. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cooper was predeceased by a sister Theresa Mae Cooper and a brother Julius Whiteford (Sam) Cooper, Jr. along with two nephews Cameron Cooper and Chris Long. Paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John C. Cooper and Maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs.Jessie W. Davis.
Charles is survived by one brother Andrew (Terri) Cooper of Conway, Three sisters: Patricia Gayle Skipper of Mesa, Arizona, Wanda Darlene Cooper of Mullins SC, Debbie Cooper of Surfside Beach SC and Rebecca Ann Pendergrass of Murrells Inlet SC. Four nieces: Lynn (Keith) Smith, Abigail (Dallas) Kavanaugh and Caroline Cooper. Three nephews: James Skipper, Dallas Noonan, and Harrison Pendergrass. Four great nieces: Summer, Gwen, Coty and Kathryn Smith. Two great nephews: Jesse Skipper and Caleb Skipper
Also surviving is a special uncle Paul E. Davis (Wanda) of Bethune SC, a special aunt Jane W.(Janewood) Forward of Conway and very special cousin and friend William (Teddy) Sanders of Conway.
Mr. Cooper was a long distance truck driver of twelve years and retired from Cal-Maine Foods, Bethune SC. He was known by his friends at Cal-Maine as Catfish Cooper. He also worked as a high rise crane operator for Coastal Crane for eight years, and a welder for Equipment Rental.
Charles loved the water: boating and fishing, boat races, his house boat, enjoyed a good poker game and watching Nascar. In the time he was confined at home he loved watching classic movies: The Virginian, Bonanza and Gunsmoke. Charles was devoted to his family and loyal to his friends and will be missed every day as we learn to complete our journey without him.
The Cooper family would like to send a special thank you to the AGAPE Hospice for their caring staff and especially Helen Cook, NP whom made our brother feel like he gained a new friend, Terri Cooper, RN for her true and undying love for our family, Pastor Bill Harrill, and Edith Glasgow, Social Worker for the time she spent listening and the heartfelt advise she gave us.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
