Dennis Jack Gara, age 83, of Pawleys Island South Carolina, passed away on April 12, 2024. He was born on February 3, 1941 in Long Lake Wisconsin.
Dennis was known for being a hard working man, who would do anything to help out a family member or friend in need. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Dennis attended Fairview High School in Dayton Ohio, and attended Wright State University to pursue his career in the printing/ink business. He went on to work for Mccalls Printing and World Color Press where he was a member of their chemical lab team and tested raw materials like paper, ink and glue for quality.
In his younger days, Dennis enjoyed tending to his tobacco farm where he lived on the river in Jessamine County, Kentucky alongside his family. More recently, he had enjoyed spending quality time with family at his home in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, since his retirement.
Dennis is survived by his wife Yvonne (Goforth); daughter Tracy; son Douglas Sr.; grandchildren Jolene, Coleman, Tyler, Samantha, Scarlett and Douglas Jr.; 9 great grandchildren, as well as his brother Ervin Jr.; nephews Gerald, Jody, Ervin III and Gregory. He is preceded in death by his mother Edna (Bucholtz); father Ervin Sr.; and brother Gerald.
Dennis will be remembered for all his hard work and dedication to his family, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
