Don Silver Gibbs, born on June 29, 1944, in Kinston, NC, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and service. He was the beloved son of Donnie Blanton Gibbs and Jessica Silver Gibbs. Don is survived by his devoted wife, Keith Parker Gibbs; his two daughters, Donyale Christine Kramer and Jennifer Suzanne Hall; and six cherished grandchildren: Daniel Paul Grove, Riley James Grove, Michael Arthur Grove, Cooper Timothy Grove, Tristan Trevor Hall, and Katelyn Christine Hall.
A graduate of Old Fort High School, Don continued his education at Mars Hill College before earning a degree in Computer Programming from Miami Dade College. He served in the USAF for 4 years, including one year in Korea, and achieved the rank of Staff Sargeant.
Following his service in the military, Don had a lengthy career in the computer industry. Notably, he served as Corporate Data Processing Manager for Poe & Associates in Tampa and as Director of Corporate Systems for Fotomat in St. Petersburg. He also held positions in Charlotte, Miami, and Blowing Rock and had his businesses, Business Data Services in Tampa and PC Hospital in Morganton, NC.
Beyond his professional achievements, Don was a passionate reader, with A.J. Quinnell as his favorite author. He found joy in fishing and playing golf, celebrating two remarkable holes-in-one throughout his life. He had an infectious laugh and loved to tell a good joke. His wit and charm were undeniable and he was a gifted storyteller.
One of Don's proudest accomplishments was his dedication to the Baptist Men's Wood Ministry, where he coordinated the building of 37 wheelchair ramps for those in need, exemplifying his commitment to community service and compassion.
Don will be remembered not only for his professional successes but also for his warm spirit, keen sense of humor, unwavering kindness, and the love he shared with family and friends. He leaves a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
