Dwight "Pete" Lynell Hart Sr., age 94, peacefully passed away on April 14, 2024, in Myrtle Beach, SC. Dwight was born on July 30, 1929, to B. Clyde and Minnie Hart in Richmond, VA.
He loved his family, his career and was an avid Duke Blue Devils fan. He will be remembered for his devotion, his generosity, and his kindness. During his life, he lived in Roanoke Rapids, VA; Sherman, TX; Durham, NC; Worthington, OH; and Myrtle Beach SC.
Dwight served in the US Airforce from March 1952 to March 1956. He was stationed at Perrin Air Force Base in Sherman, Tx and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He went on to work for ACT (formerly Industrial Nucleonics and AccuRay Corp.) and continued to work remotely until January 2022. His career afforded him lifelong friends and extensive travel.
He is preceded in death by his first wife of 35 years, Billie Marie Hart. As well as his son, Dwight Lynell Hart, Jr.; his parents, B. Clyde and Minnie Morton Hart; and his siblings and their spouses: Bayman (Carol) Hart, Carolyn (Sonny) LeCates.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jeannie Ann Hart. He is also survived by his sister, Jane Carpenter; his children, Robbie (John) Bannan, Kenneth Begley, Jeffrey (Sharon) Begley, Andrea Skeens, Gregory (Kathy) Begley, Daniel (Heather) Begley; his grandchildren, Molly, Ryan, Heather, Stacey, Ethan, Shane, Amber, Ashley, Amanda, Sandy, Melissa, and Connor; and 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many beloved lifelong friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on May 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grand Strand Church of Christ, 2212 Glenns Bay Rd, Surfside Beach, SC 29575, 843-650-9711
In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
