Earl Eugene
"Gene" Madlock
March 18, 1933 – March 22, 2021
Earl Eugene "Gene" Madlock, 88, of Myrtle Beach, SC passed away peacefully at 5:23 am Monday, March 22nd, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born March 18th, 1933 in Akron, Ohio; son of Albert F and Mary Kathryn (Beach) Madlock. He was married to his wonderful wife Linda M Madlock. He worked at Summit Sheet Metal in Barberton, Ohio until he retired. He was a sheet metal worker and truck driver. He enjoyed what he did and was a real "hands-on" person. There was nothing he could not build or fix.
Gene was a loving husband, father, and friend, and loved spending time with his family. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed attending Socastee Baptist Church. His outgoing personality will always be remembered when he handed out candy to everyone. He enjoyed golfing and fishing, and when he was not fixing things around the house, loved watching football and Gunsmoke, and listening to the Solid Gold Oldies channel on television. He liked camping in their fifth wheel with his wife in Ohio, where there was always meat on the grill and beer in the fridge for the fellow campers. He also helped the campground with the mowing just to stay busy. He was a very meticulous person and kept everything in pristine condition, especially his car and yard. He was a fighter and never gave up with anything. He battled many health issues over the years and always overcome them with his positive attitude. With the same spirit, he encouraged other people to keep fighting.
Survivors are his wife, Linda; 2 daughters, Sherry (Stuart) Emmons of Surfside Beach, SC and Lisa (Stuart) Eke in England; daughter-in-law Susan Madlock of Cape Girardeau, MO; step children, Sherry Barker of Ohio, Kevin Barker of Ohio, and Lori Long of Myrtle Beach, SC; 5 grandchildren, Scott, Sarah, Zack, Alex, and Lily Madlock, and Nicholas and Hailey Emmons; 2 step grandchildren; and 9 step great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, son Paul, and brother Frank.
The family will celebrate Gene's life privately. Memorials can be sent to Socastee Baptist Church, 3690 Socastee Blvd. Myrtle Beach, SC 29588.
