Gayle Marie (McDermott) Wallace, 77, of Myrtle Beach, formerly of Auburn, MA, passed away on Monday July 31st, surrounded by family. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Wallace.

Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Edward McDermott and Olive Jane (Nagle) McDermott.

Gayle was educated at Commerce High School and graduated from Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing.  Gayle proudly worked for Worcester City Hospital until the hospital closed.  She continued her nursing career working at Certified Nursing Services and the former Clark Manor Nursing Facility.  Gayle retired in 2009.  Gayle enjoyed cruising in her convertible VW Beetle, volunteering at Catholic Charities in Wilmington, NC, gardening and time spent on the beach.  An avid artist, she also loved spending time painting.  Most of all she loved spending time with family and dear friends.

Gayle is survived by her daughter Kerrie Wallace and her husband David Tyndall, of  Myrtle Beach, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews and great-grandnieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings Pauline Coombs, Carol McDermott, Constance Nowicki, Edward McDermott, and Barbara Monahan.

A celebration of life will be held this fall at the beach in South Carolina with burial at a later date in Massachusetts.
