Grace Evelyn Abbott Freeman, born in Brattleboro, VT on November 30th, 1929 to the late Wallace and Olive (Hildreth) Abbott, died and entered into her heavenly rest on Tuesday, October 4th, 2016 while residing at NHC Healthcare Garden City in Murrells Inlet, SC.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 66 years, Francis I. Freeman and their three sons, Dana (Claudia) Freeman of Meriden, CT; Allen (Jodi) Freeman of Quincy, MA and Scott (Karen) Freeman of Meriden, CT and 8 wonderful grandchildren: Christopher and Sarah Freeman, Anju Freeman, Rebecca Chanda, Robert Freeman, Jeremy Freeman, Rebecca Cuthbert-Payne and Eric Hamelin as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her precious daughter, Linda Ann, her brother Lt. Col. Edward Abbott, her two sisters, Thelma Bensenhauer and Eleanor Metzler and a nephew, Dennis Cavanaugh.
Grace grew up in Brattleboro, VT and graduated in 1948 from Brattleboro High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Francis I. Freeman in May of 1950. She was a loving and very dedicated wife and mom and treated her daughters-in-law as if they were her own. She was an avid seamstress, always making, repairing and re-purposing things. She and her husband Fran enjoyed square dancing for many years with the Temple Sweethearts of North Haven, CT. She also enjoyed camping trips with her family. Grace retired to Myrtle Beach, SC with her husband Francis and was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church.
She will be so greatly missed by us all. The family would like to extend their sincere and heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at NHC Healthcare Garden City and to the staff of Caris Healthcare for all their kind and compassionate care.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
