Obituary

Guy Little Housand, 92, was called to Heaven to join his wife, son, and many family members and friends on Monday, October 4, 2021.
Guy was born on February 12, 1929, in Loris, S.C. to the late Benjamin Ira and Ella Little Housand. He graduated from Loris High School and served two tours of duty with the U.S. Army from 1946-1947 and then again in 1950-1951 for the Korean conflict. While in the service, he married the beautiful and kind Ann Thompkins, to whom he was married for 67 years.

After being discharged from the Army, Guy worked with J.P. McAlpine, Bell & Bell Real Estate Company, and then began a long career with Canal Wood Corporation, in which he retired from in 1992. He was also a member of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free Masons of South Carolina for more than 60 years and a devoted member of Buck Creek Baptist Church.

Pepe, as he was lovingly called, was many things to many people all rolled into one person. He was a wonderful father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, friend, role model, and hero. He loved rice with every meal, spending time with his family at the Myrtle Beach State Park, Little Debbie cakes, a cold Pepsi, cutting his grass, fishing, Old Spice cologne, fixing things in his garage, and tending to his garden. Year after year, he grew the most perfect cucumbers and tomatoes and would often share them with his family and friends. He always gave an ear to listen, a shoulder to lean on, and was someone many people looked to for advice, answers, and approval. Because of all of the wonderful things he embodied, he will be missed by all who knew him, especially his family.

Surviving are his daughter, Sheri Fisher (Terry) of Myrtle Beach; four grandchildren Justin Lee (Wendi) and Michele Alex of Myrtle Beach; Brandy H. Capps (Scotty) of Virginia, and Tyler Housand of Conway; six great grandchildren, River Lee, Erika Burkett, and Braxton Elvis of Myrtle Beach; Connor Cribb, Eli Capps, and Ali Capps, all of Virginia; one great-great grandchild, Scarlet Elvis of Myrtle Beach; sister Ann Thompson of Wilmington; and daughter-in-law Janice Housand of Conway.

Guy was predeceased by his wife, Ann, his son, Jeff Housand, sisters Eulee Housand and Nina Byrnes, and brothers Thelton and A.T. Housand.
The family will be accepting visitors at the Housand residence on Tuesday, October 5 through Thursday, October 7 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The address is 4630 Willow Street, Loris, SC.
