Bandremer
June 2, 1943 – December 9, 2024
Harriette Ruth Bandremer, age 81, passed away on December 9, 2024 from complications related to an acute illness. A beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, Harriette will always be remembered for her quick wit, kindness, and love of animals.
Born on June 2, 1943, daughter of Daniel and Rose Miller, and younger sister to Libby, Harriette was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in Valley Stream on Long Island and Rego Park in Queens, NY. Harriette graduated from Forest Hills High School in 1962.
Married to husband Seymour ("Sy") for 59 years, they lived in Rego Park before moving to Latham, NY in 1970. Harriette enjoyed a variety of work including Macy's in New York City, the Social Security Administration, Latham Ridge Elementary School, a retail card store, and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
A highly social individual, Harriette enjoyed being a member of the Latham Woman's Club for many years, serving as president and co-president during three separate terms. She created many lifelong friendships while participating in this community work. Additional bonds, both local and abroad, were created through her childrens' high school international exchange programs. The opportunity to spend a month exploring Germany was a special experience she often reminisced about.
After trying the snowbird lifestyle for a number of winters at Ocean Lakes Campground, Sy and Harriette made the full-time move to Myrtle Beach, SC in 2011. Harriette built special friendships in her neighborhood, at Socastee Senior Center, and throughout the Myrtle Beach area, while maintaining her dear connections in the Capital Region. Some of her favorite activities included attending ceramic painting classes, attending the Senior Center, and visiting local eateries and coffee spots. Most recently, Harriette cherished the experience of surprising her sister by attending her 90th birthday party held in Dallas,Texas in 2023 just months before Libby's passing.
Harriette is survived by her husband Sy, son Aaron (and Olivia), daughter Jennifer (and Amir), son Seth, granddaughter Kera, nephew Mitchel (and Martin), grandnephew Jack, and tuxedo cat Macy.
