James Edward Barfield, 77, of Conway, SC passed away peacefully on Saturday November 29, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. James was born in Tacora Georgia, a son of the late Rev. Fred William and Edith Young Barfield. He was a successful business owner of Barfield Construction LLC for over 50 years. James was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed greatly. He was a Retired Church of God Pastor who had a heart for Missions. He was able to build churches as well as support missionaries in areas like Peru, Honduras, Guatemala and South Africa. He was also a Veteran from the Navy/Seabees. He was a graduate of Jimmy Swaggert Bible College. James feared God and loved people. His favorite says were, "Love God, Love People and keep the fun in it." James was a member of Palmetto Pointe Church of God.

James was predeceased in death in addition to his parents; 5 brothers Larson, Billy, Gerald, Legrand and Sherrod (Brenda); and 1 sister Gwendolyn ("Pete") Whalen.

Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Joanna M Barfield, a son Stephen (Lisa) Gibbs, his siblings Carroll (Frederick) Skipper, Laverne (Charlene) Barfield and Darlyn Adams, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2pm on Sunday December 14, 2025, at Palmetto Pointe Church of God located at 2901 Fantasy Way: Myrtle Beach, SC 29579.
