On May 17, 2021, Joseph "Joey" Terry Chambers III died unexpectedly in Myrtle Beach, SC, of unknown causes. He was 49 years old.

Joey is survived by his father, Joseph "Terry" Chambers II of Griffin, GA; his children, Jessica Averett of Murrayville, GA, Kayla Conner of Tacoma, WA, and his service dog, Muttley; his big sister, Amanda Blizard - and three nephews, Devin, Levi and Nicholas - of Macon, GA. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Earl and Kathryn Rowe, paternal grandparents, Joseph and Catherine Chambers, and his mother, Mary Schnizler.

When he was younger, Joey trained horses, played soccer and liked to hunt. In later years, he preferred more leisurely activities. He and his daughter Jessica watched every episode ever made of The Walking Dead and Outlander. Joey also enjoyed listening to a wide range of music – his favorites included Pearl Jam, Elton John, Pink Floyd, Rehab, James Taylor, The Cars and Gorillaz.
