Obituary

Karen Wyles Feighan, 82, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on December, 30, 2020, at Embrace Hospice House in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She is survived by her older daughter, Pamela Jordan (John McCannon), of Nashua, NH; her younger daughter, Michele Getz, of Myrtle Beach, SC; her granddaughter, Miranda Jordan McCannon, of Nashua, NH; and her brother, Wayne Wyles (Lynne Wyles), of Asheville, NC.  She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Andrew Getz.

Karen was born on July 31, 1938, to Gladys Bigelow Wyles and Howard T. Wyles of Berea, Ohio.  A 1956 graduate of Berea High School, Karen studied dramatic acting in Cleveland with Jane Caldwell Hamburger and performed in numerous plays on Ohio stages from the 1950s until the 1970s, including at the Berea Little Theater, Berea Summer Theater, Canal Fulton Summer Theater, Clague Play House, Cleveland Play House, Lakewood Little Theater, and Musicarnival, one of America's first tent theaters. In 1968, she received the Best Actress Award for her part as Susy Hendrix in "Wait Until Dark" at Lakewood Little Theater. Before marrying in the early 1960s, Karen worked as a fashion model, a stage actor, and a hair stylist in New York. During the 1970s, she was a member of the Women's City Club of Cleveland and served on a planning committee for Cleveland's celebration of the U.S. Bicentennial in 1976.  Karen later worked as a realtor in the Cleveland-Akron area and enjoyed painting, gardening, and spending time with family during her retirement years in Myrtle Beach. She especially cherished the time spent with her granddaughter, Miranda, with whom she shared a special bond.

Karen's family would like to thank the staff at Embrace Hospice House for the loving care they gave Karen during her final weeks of life. Due to the pandemic, they would prefer to celebrate her life privately at this time. Arrangements will be provided by Grand Strand Funeral Home, and her cremains will be interred in Woodvale Cemetery, Middleburg Heights, Ohio. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association or the Hospice Foundation of America.
