Leah Walvisch's Obituary
Leah Walvisch, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 27, 2017.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY to Harry and Gussie Schwartz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold. Leah worked for the war effort while her husband served in the Army Corps of Engineers in WWII. She was an active member of United Cerebral Palsy, The Malverne (NY) Jewish Center and Temple Emanu-El in Myrtle Beach. She loved to play golf, bridge, Rummikub, shopping and cooking holiday dinners for her family and many friends.
Leah is survived by her loving children, Jayne Schmerling (the late Mark) and Dr. Steven Walvisch (Carol), wonderful grandchildren, Michael Schmerling, Jeffrey Schmerling (Nayantara Mehta), and Laurie Walvisch.
Leah will be greatly missed by all of her many friends and those who have been blessed by knowing her. In lieu of flowers, donations to Temple Emanu-El, 406 65th Ave. North, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572 would be appreciated. Grand Strand Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
