We are heartbroken to share the passing of our dear Leo Edward Atwell, 96, who peacefully passed on Monday, February 5, 2024.

Leo's departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound that is gravely felt by his family and friends.

Leo was an avid and skilled golfer. He was also an excellent bowler who bowled in many leagues. He saw the world and loved to travel, accumulating incredible stories throughout the years.

Leo had a long and impressive career with the federal government. He started as a topographical draftsman in 1945. He taught drafting and compilation, continuing on to the stereographic division where he compiled topographical maps of places around the world. He then earned a degree in cartography. He received several outstanding awards for achievement throughout his career.  Notably, he was given an outstanding award for the mapping of the Panama Canal.

Leo never met a stranger and was ceaselessly kind to everyone. He accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms, and a perpetual smile. To say that Leo is known and loved everywhere is an understatement. Throughout Leo's life he touched many people and certainly made the world a more beautiful and kinder place.
