Michael Robert Geiger, age 51of Myrtle Beach, SC passed away peacefully at his home on April 26, 2017.
He was the son of the late David Edward Geiger. He is survived by his mother Pamela A. Geiger, and his brother Brad (Beth) Geiger both of Myrtle Beach, SC. He was uncle Mike to Thomas Ian (Sarah) Geiger and great uncle to Noah Thomas Geiger of Wilmington, NC. He is also survived by uncles Steve (Mary Jane) of Endwell, NY, Tommy of Oxford, NY, John of Raleigh, NC and cousins Chris, Jim, and Michelle.
Michael was born in Endicott, NY and graduated class of '83 from Vestal High School. Mike was quite an athlete in his younger days. A star on the soccer field as well as on the diamond achieving MVP, best glove, and batting champ awards in the same season, opting to accept MVP and pass the others on to his teammates. Mike was also well known for his culinary skills in the greater Binghamton, NY area. He relocated to Myrtle Beach to be close to family in the late '90s and continued his food & beverage career becoming Executive Chef at Sheraton Four Points Resort in Myrtle Beach. Michael was a passionate NY Giants and Yankees fan. He loved his NASCAR, and true to his childhood roots enjoyed the action in the squared circle. He loved his cat Ozzy (aptly named after one of his favorite bands) as well as the local strays that he fed daily. He was an avid attendee of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Myrtle Beach.
His family wishes to give their heartfelt thanks to Embrace Hospice of Myrtle Beach for their kindness, care, respect and dignity they showed Mr. Mike. We are eternally grateful. We all have wonderful memories of Michael. May those stories and thoughts live on with each of us forever. At his request there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Embrace Hospice of Myrtle Beach or Save R Cats of Myrtle Beach.
