Murrells Inlet, SC – Patrick Francis Hunt (Paddy), age 88 passed away peacefully with his loving daughter Margaret Mary by his side on December 20, 2022. Born on September 4, 1934 to Patrick J. Hunt and Margaret Mary Hunt in Southwest Philadelphia where he and his family were members of Good Sheppard Parish.
Survived by his sister Rita Spencer and brother Edward Hunt. Also survived by his children, Helene Gertenitch (Joe), Patrick Hunt, Margaret Mary Donnelly (George) and Andrew Hunt. Grandchildren Laura DiMatteo (Tom), Patrick F. Hunt (Jessica), Brian Hunt and Brittney Watson. Great Grandchildren Brooke, Davina, Kaylynn, Hayden and Patrick along with many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters Margaret Mary Downs, Kathleen Coleman, Mary Sharkey, Agnes Esposito and brother Joseph Hunt.
In January, 1955 he enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed much of his time in Lyoti, Morocco. After his honorable discharge in December 1958, he went back to work for General Electric (GE) as a Production Manager traveling the US and Canada. He raised his family in Yeadon, Pa, St. Louis Parish, and after 37 years at GE, he retired to Murrells Inlet, SC. He loved playing softball and basketball, dancing and was very proud of his 1937 Buick. In South Carolina, he was an active member in the Moose Lodge of Murrells Inlet, American Legion Post #178 and his favorite, the Elks Club Lodge 2797 where he was known for his Louis Armstrong renditions particularly "What a Wonderful World" during karaoke nights. A true avid Philadelphia sports fan, he loved the Eagles and Phillies.
Interment to be private. Memorial services to be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local veterans organization.
