Rachel Louise Silas was born in Laurens, SC the 2nd of 6 children.Her siblings are Rubye R. Teague, Bernadine Teague Collier, Harriette Teague Blume, Robert Teague, Helen Teague Wells(deceased). She worked hard all her life attaining a college degree in 1950. She attended Burea College in Kentucky. After meeting her late husband Bales Silas, she deferred her dream of running adiagnostics company to support her husband's tool business and raise their 7 children. John B. Silas, Robert A. Silas, Jefftery T. Silas (deceased) Nancy Silas Roach, Clifford N. Silas, Joseph A. Silas and Richard M. Silas (deceased) in Detroit, Michigan.

She was the blessed grandmother of Alexis, Angela, Erika, Stephanie Rae, William B., David, C Tyler, Nathan, Timothy, William S., Evelyn Rose, Stephen, and Andrew. Her great-grandchildren are Hailey, Rose, Ryan, Carson and Eevee. They were a joy to her.

Rachel was known to prefer learning over social situations.
