Raymond A Mara, SR, 85, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away quietly on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at home from heart disease.  Raymond was born in New York on November 25, 1937.  Raymond lived in Maspeth, NY, Cliffwood Beach, Shrewsbury Township, and Old Bridge, NJ before moving to Myrtle Beach in 2002.  He proudly served in the US Marines from 1955 to 1959.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Susan Wood Mara.  He is predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Bowman Maraszkiewicz, mother to Edward (Christie), Kenneth (Karen), Louann Carr (William), Raymond (Joan – deceased), and Robert (deceased).  He is also survived by Margaret Mara, mother of Danielle Auriemma and Glynis (Adam) Castaneda. He had 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  He is also predeceased by his parents, Adam and Mary Yankauskas Maraszkiewicz and his siblings Edward and Veronica.

Raymond worked at Morton Salt and Raritan River Steel, but his favorite was owning The Colonial Bite Shoppe in Freehold, NJ.  He enjoyed cooking, serving, and chatting with his customers, many who became friends.  He loved cruising all over the world, dancing, cooking, playing golf, and weekly card games with his buddies.

Raymond requested direct cremation and his cremains will be spread in the Caribbean Sea.
