Ricky went to meet Jesus on April 3,2021 at age 54. Ricky was born in Charlotte, NC, lived in Murrells Inlet, SC. Ricky was the beloved son of Richard and Sarah Cathey of Murrells Inlet, SC.  Ricky is survived by and proud father of 5 children, Richard Wayne Cathey III of Murrells Inlet, SC who feels like his dad was the best father, friend, and coach a son could ask for. Son Justin Matthew Cathey of Wilmington, NC believes his dad was amazing. Daughter Melissa Ann Cathey Gardner (Chris) of Lancaster, SC gave Ricky his first granddaughter, Gracelyn Faith. Ricky was Melissa's rock. Son Christopher John Cathey of Wilmington, NC said his dad was his hero, "He taught me to shoot my first basketball. My daddy was a strong, funny, and ambitious man. I will miss him always. Son Joshua Cathey AKA JoJo of Wilmington, NC says his dad was the most joyful, nice, handsome, and strong man you could ever know." Ricky is also survived by sisters Sherri Cook (Charles) of Lilesville, NC and Angela Huston (Ron) of Murrells Inlet, SC and nephews and niece Douglas, Daniel, Brian and Bella. His Sisters feel blessed to have had their Bubby in their lives.

Ricky's family and friends are invited to Visitation Friday, April 23 from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM at The Oaks Bible Church in Inlet Square Mall and Saturday, April 24 at 12:00 PM for A Celebration of Ricky's Life and home going to be with Jesus
