Obituary

Rita Virginia Saxon (née Biggerman), age 86, of Pawleys Island, SC, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of June 10th, 2025, after a long illness. Rita is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, William E. Saxon, Jr., of Pawleys Island, SC, and her sons, Paul (Pat Donohue) Saxon, of Ellicott City, MD, and Jeffrey (Diane) Saxon, of Pawleys Island, SC.

Rita was born in Baltimore, MD on September 12th, 1938 to James and Audrey Biggerman, and was the sister to John Thomas Biggerman who preceded her in death in 2019. Rita attended Towson Catholic High School in Towson, MD, and co-starred in several operettas while there, using her beautiful mezzo-soprano singing voice. She graduated in 1956, and went on to enjoy a career in finance, most recently with Bank of America, that lasted over 40 years. In 2005, Rita and William moved from Jarrettsville, MD, to Myrtle Beach, SC, where they lived for many years before ultimately relocating to Pawleys Island. Rita enjoyed mystery books, scrapbooking and The Beatles.

Many thanks to everyone at The Lakes at Litchfield for their constant care for Rita.

A memorial service will be held at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet on Tuesday, July 1st at 11am to celebrate Rita's life.
