Salvatore J. Alioto, Jr. died April 20, 2016. He was born the son of Salvatore and Amelia Alioto and raised in Philadelphia, PA until he joined the U.S. Coast Guard at 17.
Through his extensive volunteerism, he served in an official capacity from president to board of directors in several organizations including:
Briarcliffe Father and Son Assoc., and Commissioner of Darby Township in PA
Sons of Italy, American Legion Post 28, Knights of Columbus, Sussex Co., DE
Guardian ad Litem, Heroes for Children, and ChanticleerAthletic Foundation, Horry Co., SC. Baseball umpire, football and basketball referee in all three states
He was the consummate and excellent salesman, terrible but always optimistic golfer, forever and always loved being on the water. He was extremely outgoing, although he would tell you he was shy. He was exceptionally intelligent, but would say he wasn't too smart. He was loved by everyone he touched and will be sorely missed.
Survivors include his wife Diane M. Alioto; best friend ever; and only true love ever they were married for 50 plus years
Children- Keith (Kelli Knode); Thomas (Joanne Milliner) and Kristine. 11 grandchildren: Morgan, Ethan, Justin, Tori, Owen, Tyler, Sabrina, Simon, Connor, Sophia and Darby. Sisters- Eleanor DiNubile and Marie O'Doherty.
