William Edward Kirby of Conway, age 95, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022, with his family by his side at Anderson Oaks Assisted Living.

Born on July 17, 1927, in Paden City, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Harley Kirby and Zelma Anderson Kirby. He served in the Navy during WWII as a gunner's mate on the USS Walke Destroyer. After leaving service, he married his wife Clara and they had three children. They settled in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. where he made his career in the construction industry by working his way through the ranks. He was very active in the Berwyn Heights Boys Club through the years and served as coach, referee and even umpire when the need arose.

Along with his parents, Mr. Kirby was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Clara Mae Lopez Kirby; his sister Ruth Eileen Ferrebee and her husband William E. Ferrebee; grandchildren David Cole Wenglinsky and James Corey Fisher.

Surviving are his three children:  William (Bill) Kirby and his wife Judy of Conway, James (Jay) Kirby of Myrtle Beach and Elizabeth Ann Fisher and her husband James of Mechanicsville, MD; four grandchildren Tammy Ray, Nicole Rabon and husband Jack, Aubrie Fisher and Jacob Kirby; one great grandchild Kylie Renee Brooks; brother-in-law Benito Lopez of California and sister-in-law Rosalind Cross of Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks for the love and care given to their father and grandfather by the staff of Anderson Oaks.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Tuesday October 4th 2022 at 10am with Military Honors provided by the US Navy at Hillcrest Cemetery with burial to follow.
