William Gregory "Greg" Murphy, 61, of Surfside Beach, passed away at home on June 1, 2026. Born in Gastonia, NC, Greg moved to South Carolina to live by the ocean. A talented carpenter by trade, he loved fishing and enjoyed spending time on the beach. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, John Anthony Murphy and Sandra Spargo White, and his brother, Frederick “Fred” Murphy. Greg firmly believed he and Fred would be reunited, and his family prays that this reunion brings him the peace he deserved in life. He is survived by his brother, John Anthony Murphy (Cynthia); sister, Amy Murphy Barker (Scott); and nieces and nephews. The family plans to celebrate Greg’s life privately.
